Emergency Dentistry
Dental pain can’t wait — and neither do we. Same-day emergency appointments available.
What Is a Dental Emergency?
A dental emergency is any situation involving the teeth, gums, or mouth that requires immediate professional attention to save a tooth, stop bleeding, relieve severe pain, or prevent the spread of infection. Unlike routine dental problems that can wait for a scheduled appointment, emergencies demand prompt treatment — often within hours or even minutes — to prevent permanent damage.
Delaying emergency treatment can lead to serious consequences: tooth loss, spread of infection to other parts of the face or body, permanent nerve damage, and significantly more expensive and complex treatment later. A knocked-out tooth, for example, has the best chance of being saved if treated within 30 minutes. A dental abscess can become life-threatening if the infection spreads. Severe toothache often signals an infection that won’t resolve on its own.
Common dental emergencies include severe toothache, knocked-out (avulsed) teeth, cracked or fractured teeth, lost fillings or crowns, dental abscesses with swelling and pus, uncontrolled bleeding, objects stuck between teeth, and injuries to the lips or tongue. If you’re experiencing any of these, call us immediately at 9902384493 — we reserve same-day slots for emergencies and will guide you on what to do until you reach us.
Types of Dental Emergencies
Eight common dental emergencies — recognize the signs and know what to do.
Severe Toothache
Unbearable pain often signals infection. Rinse with warm salt water. Don’t place aspirin on the tooth or gums — call us immediately.
Knocked-Out Tooth
Pick up by the crown (not root), rinse gently, try to reinsert or store in milk. See a dentist within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving.
Cracked/Chipped Tooth
Rinse mouth with warm water. Save any tooth fragments. Apply cold compress for swelling. Call us promptly for repair.
Lost Filling/Crown
Use temporary dental cement from a pharmacy. Avoid chewing on that side. See dentist promptly to prevent further damage.
Dental Abscess
Swelling, pus, and fever indicate serious infection. Needs immediate treatment — don’t ignore. Can become life-threatening if it spreads.
Bleeding Gums
Persistent bleeding, especially after extraction. Apply pressure with gauze. Seek care if bleeding doesn’t stop within 15 minutes.
Object Stuck Between Teeth
Try gentle flossing. Don’t use sharp objects like pins or toothpicks. Call us if the object remains stuck or causes pain.
Lip/Tongue Injury
Clean the wound gently. Apply pressure with clean gauze. Seek care if bleeding doesn’t stop or the wound is deep.
